we were lucky and got to see some very special places during our visit to san francisco.

- george lucas' skywalker ranch
- the secret greenpeace headquarter
- the google campus

the opportunity to actually visit the places mentioned above(which is definitely a privilege, since you need to know people who work there to gain access to any of these) also made us change our minds about driving hundreds of miles to go to yellowstone. we decided to prolong our visit in san francisco and rather go to yosemite national park instead, which is way closer.

weirdest encounter: i met a guy in LA who told me that he knew the upper-austrian word "söckibär" (which is deepest slang for sheep)

missed opportunity: sean bonner went shooting to a gun club for his birthday with some friends. but as i think it's morally wrong to shoot i refrained from doing so. (sean also did not shoot since he got stuck in traffic and arrived way too late and way too tedious).

biggest extravaganza: johannes and i each bought a 10-day parkhopper pass for disney world and used up two days on this trip. they are valid for a lifetime, anyways.

new favorite tool: GPS navigation system

new favorite supermarket: trader joe's (awesome almond clusters and lots of other amazing stuff!)

biggest bummer: i wanted to watch the oscars and it was perfectly timed with our flight from the west to the east coast. but a sand storm in las vegas kept our plane there and so we arrived four hours late in orlando and missed the show but for the last minutes in which scorsese got his long awaited golden statue.

all in all: awesome trip.

i'm trying to visit SFO again end of may to go to the maker faire and see violet and everybody again as soon as possible, but i'm not sure if i can get some days off yet. maybe i should ask...
